inspired

Lately I have been uber inspired. It's almost like everywhere I go I notice something small that I tuck away in my brain in the inspiration folder or I snap a quick photo with my phone to remind me later what it was that I saw.

My new favorite thing to do on Saturday mornings is to go to the farmer's market in Old Town Petersburg and after that, I head over to an incredible little coffee shop called Demolition Coffee.  It is, no lie, the most inspiring place I have been in a long while.  My head is swarming with ideas for the house and for my art.  And those of you who know, know I haven't been painting or creating as much I would like to, and I am really feeling invigorated and excited to get started on some new projects.

I have decided that my home is going to be an art project for me.  It's the perfect blend of creativity and practicality that I need in my life right now.  I am going to be putting as much energy as I can into this.  Who needs a canvas when you have a whole house?!

Here are some photos I snapped from the coffee shop last time I went:

Send Peyton Away

Friends and family, please help!!! I received this e-mail today from a dear friend of CreateAThon on Campus.  You know, the event that helps non-profits be awesome! :-)

The director and founder of CreateAThon on campus is named Peyton Rowe.  She is an incredible mentor and inspiration to me throughout my life.

She has been invited to participate in an incredible learning opportunity.  Please help us send her to IMPACT: Design for Social Change in New York this summer.  This is an outstanding honor some of the greatest designers have participated in.  That being said, honor and prestige do some with a pretty big price tag.  VCU has been nice enough to start us off with a $500 donation, but we still need $10,000 more!!!!

Please help us SEND PEYTON AWAY!!!

Check out the cause on facebook, by clicking here.  If you are not addicted to facebook and social networking like the rest of us, you can donate directly through a secure service.

To learn more about the event, check this site out.

I just want to take a second to thank you in advance for your help.  It really does mean the world to me!

Everyone wants to be skinnier....

err... I mean healthier.  And the Venema family is no different.  PS. I have been referring to Philip and I as the "Venema family" quite a bit lately, and it's kind of cute to me. It's new for me to say, but it's totally true -- we are little familiy; us and the dogs and our soon to be roommate, Miss Katie Joyce, herself.  So on that note, we have started doing P90X.  Holy hell, this program is hard. I haven't felt this sore in years, which is totally awesome.  I love knowing I am making the right decisions and that someone is there to do it with me.  Lord knows if Philip wasn't doing it with me, I would quit asap.  I will try to keep ya'll posted on how it goes.  My friend, Jac, keeps reminding me that P90X is not the only step I need to be taking and reiterates that the other 90% of weight loss is eating better, so he has taken on the roll of coach and dietitian.  I really want this, and those of you who actually know, know that I pretty much get (and do) what I want... so here goes nothing!
